DIY Mike - How to make an iPod cable for your home stereo

In this video I will show you how to make a cable to connect your iPod to your home stereo. You can buy these cables anywhere but a good one can cost some $$$. For less than $10 you can build this awesome sounding iPod interconnect and listen to your favorite tunes on your home stereo instead of a thin sounding dock. Thanks for watching, DIY Mike. DIY Mike - How to make an iPod dock out of old computer speakers

How to make an iPod dock out of old computer speakers

I made this iPod dock out of some old computer speakers I had laying around. You can find them cheap at garage sales or thrift shops. I recommend buying older and usually heavier speakers as they tend to have better drivers. I will post complete instructions on my website in the near future. Thanks for looking.

DIY Mike - How to make a voice changer kit spy gadget

In this video I'm assembling a voice changer kit. It took me about 25 minutes to put the kit together and have it working. I decided to install it in to a project box and add an on/off switch, microphone input jack and speaker output jack. The speaker that came with the kit sounded terrible so I ran an aux. cable from the speaker out jack to my computer speakers input. This kit was easy to build (as long as you know how to solder and take your time to read the instructions) and loads to fun to play with. Thanks for watching ;-)

DIY Mike - How to solder a Mini-Plug connector

I've added this video as a follow-up to the DIY mini-plug to mini-plug aux. input cable post and video below. I had a YouTube user contact me about having trouble soldering the small connector and wanted a photo of the finished plug as a guide. I decided to make this close-up video instead. This how to video should be helpful to anyone who has not yet mastered the art of soldering. I'm not saying I'm a master but I've had a lot of practice. Enjoy and thanks for watching, DIY Mike.

DIY iPod MP3 mini-plug aux. input cable

In this video I make a DIY mini-plug to mini-plug aux. input cable using a Litz flat braid design and two 3.5 mini plugs from Parts Express. I decided to use the Litz flat braided wire technique due to its very wide bandwidth and excellent phase performance. This cable would make an excellent cable for connecting your iPod or MP3 player to an auxiliary input in your car or stereo.

DIY Making a Great Sounding Audio Interconnect for under $10

I've been making hi-end audio cables for more than five years now. My obsession with DIY (do it yourself) hi-end audio cables started when my 2-channel home audio system started exceeding the cost of a new sub-compact car and my budget.

When I finished selecting all my audio components and set up my listening room I turned my attention to the cabling. After months of borrowing and test-listening various interconnects (I/C's) I found a clear winner. The only problem was they cost more than $2,000 for a 1 meter pair. Yes......They sounded great and I know some of my fellow audiophiles out there are saying that my cable spend should be proportionate to the rest of the equipment but $2,000 is a lot of money for cables.

So my quest to build the ultimate hi-end audio interconnect began. Some of my earlier designs used commercially available in-wall speaker wire. These I/C's actually sounded great and beat most of the known brands found at the retail giants but lacked the little details found in the expensive cables. To see how to make one of these check out the video below. I'll post a video on how to make my pure silver $2,000 interconnect killer for less than $100 later.
